筋を伸ばしたなど急性の腰痛がある場合は、筋肉弛緩薬や抗炎症薬が役立つかもしれないとアナンド医師。「慢性腰痛の場合は、より良い治療ができるように痛みの原因を探る必要があります」
ACPは、どんな治療法を使っても、ほとんどの腰痛は時間が経てば良くなるとし、医師は患者にそう言って励ますよう勧めていることも覚えておこう。
腰痛で医者に行くべき時は？自宅でいくつか治療法を試してみることはできる一方で、特定の状況下では医師の診断を受けるのもいいとアラン博士は言う。それは、7〜10日経っても痛みが続いたり、ひどくなったりした場合だ。4週間以上痛みが続く場合は腰痛の専門家に必ず診てもらうようアナンド医師も勧める。
